Georgetown Residence

Built in 1858, this Georgetown residence carries a layered history that mirrors the city itself. Over the decades, it served as housing for Civil War soldiers and later as temporary accommodations during World War II. Most meaningfully, it has remained within the same family for six generations, passed down matrilineally as a deeply personal home.

In recent decades, the house had fallen into disrepair, its architectural character and craftsmanship obscured by time and neglect. The client entrusted us with restoring the home to its original dignity while preparing it for contemporary living. We began the renovation by taking the structure back to the studs, allowing for a careful study of its construction and historical detailing.

Our team researched trim profiles and architectural elements, faithfully recreating and pairing them with modern systems and performance standards. The goal was not to freeze the home in time, but to honor its history while ensuring its longevity.

Today, the house has been given new life — restored in form, renewed in function, and once again occupied by the next generation of the family. It stands as a continuation of a long story, thoughtfully adapted for the present while remaining firmly rooted in its past.
